PHILOSOPHY - The preschool program at Wee Care Children's Learning Center is designed to build a solid foundation during your child's formative years. We provide an environment that helps meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of each child. Each child is considered unique and special with their own individual personalities and abilities. Through lots of love, care, and nurturing our hope is that each child will leave Wee Care feeling confident and equipped to face the future. MISSION STATEMENT - Wee Care exists to care for your preschool age child in a fun, safe, loving atmosphere to guide him/her developmentally and socially for an easier entry into Kindergarten. CURRICULUM - Each classroom is divided into learning centers offering block play, dramatic play, manipulatives encouraging fine muscle and eye-hand coordination, and an art area. Other activities are set out to facilitate learning pre-math and pre-language. Children are encouraged to participate, but never forced. Each teacher prepares a weekly curriculum plan suited to the developmental stage of her particular age group covering the alphabet, songs/music, games, books, science, math, arts/crafts, dramatic play. Since we believe children learn by doing, we try to offer a range of hands-on crafts, sensory experiences (such as shaving cream, play dough, beans, flour, and water play, etc.) We have an art project every morning and afternoon. The children are given computer experience. As conflict arises between children, we encourage them to resolve it through problem-solving techniques. They are taught to verbalize their feelings and talk it out. SNACKS AND MENUS - A nutritious morning snack is provided your child, as well as an afternoon snack. The snacks consist of at least two food groups (such as apples & cheese, or peaches & crackers, or carrots & pretzels, etc.) The children are asked to bring their lunch; however, for those wanting to purchase a lunch we have a daily selection of burrito, chicken nuggets, corn dog, fish sticks, mac and cheese, or spaghetti. At times we offer special additions such as grilled cheese or pizza. All purchased lunches are served with milk, chips, cookie, and some fruit or veggie. ADMISSION INFORMATION - A visit to the child's program, facility, and grounds is required prior to registration. Tours normally take half an hour and can be scheduled with the Director between 9:00 and 11:00, but can be set by appointment between 3:00 and 5:00. Parents will be given a registration packet and will be given time to ask questions of the Director. The Director will determine which class the child will be placed in. Age will be one of the primary factors in addition to what the parent/guardian shares as to expectations and concerns regarding the child. It is our goal that all children feel safe, comfortable, and progress in their development. Child may be admitted to the school only after the registration forms are returned to the school office, fees are paid, and all forms filled out. Wee Care is a licensed center for children ages 2-5.
